Who was BKS Iyengar? (1918-2014)

BKS Iyengar was a modern yoga master who deserves recognition for his contribution to the development of Iyengar Yoga.

The world of yoga is grateful to BKS Iyengar for his significant contributions to its growth and popularity worldwide. Despite suffering from illnesses from a young age, he was introduced to the ancient teachings of yoga by his guru, Sri T. Krishnamacharya. Through dedicated study of asanas and a personal approach to practice, he refined his own practice and understanding of yoga

BKS Iyengar not only perfected his own practice but also made remarkable efforts to spread and promote yoga. He taught in Europe, the United States, and Asia, where he gained immense popularity. Additionally, he authored books on yoga that have been translated into numerous languages and have been cherished worldwide.
